"Toys for Cops" Drive Kicks Off 11/4/13
Toys for Cops
November 4, 2013
Toys for Cops, a nonprofit charity, founded three years ago by Wilson Clark, now a Lee High School junior and son of a law enforcement officer. Toys are awarded to children in crisis situations by law enforcement, crisis intervention and child protective services throughout the year. Recipients are children who may have witnessed or been a victim of a crime.
This week November 4-8, toy collections for the season kick off at Lee High School, 3500 Neely in Midland. A collection box is located in the office.
Last year, Susser Holdings, parent company of Stripes was Wilsonís corporate sponsor. Approximately 500 toys were distributed to Midland and Ector County Sheriff Offices in 2012.
This year, we are expecting thousands of new toys to be collected. Locally, the second public collection will take place at Claydesta, December 2-6. There will be collections in San Antonio and Houston this year as we expand across Texas helping children in crisis situations. There will also be local collection boxes at various merchants across the Permian Basin.
