GARDENDALE, TX-Earlier this morning Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Medical Center Hospital hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Louise and Clay Wood Simulation Center.
This new 13,300-square-foot clinical simulation center is located on the 7th floor of the hospital and features many different instruction areas such as a standardized patient program.
"We can make things happen that they may not always see in clinical. If they need to see a heart attack for instance, and they've never seen one before, we can make it happen on a simulator, so they can see different types of scenarios happening," said Melissa Leal, Simulation Coordinator.
The new center was created for medical, nursing and physician assistant students from Texas Tech Health Center, and will also be used by community health officials for training purposes.
