HOUSTON (AP) - Police are investigating the death of a Houston man they say was shot dead by a reserve sheriff's deputy from Louisiana whom he tried to rob.
Dead is 25-year-old Cortdalro Damarcel Brown.
A police statement says the reserve deputy from Franklin Parish, Louisiana was sitting in his car with his brother in a Houston apartment complex parking lot Tuesday night when Brown approached, brandished a handgun and tried to rob them.
The 29-year-old man, whom police didn't identity, drew his own handgun and shot Brown in the chest. Brown died a short time later at a hospital.
Reserve deputies in Franklin Parish are unpaid; the title is honorary.
