Def Con 1 Scares Hundreds 10/31/13
October 31, 2013
Odessa - It has become tradition for thousands of people each year to seek out thrills on Halloween. But to put on a successful haunted house it takes months of preparation and a lot of face paint.
It all starts by picking out a character, putting on a lot of makeup and making your hair a little messy.
“I usually go for the middle, the middle or the end, because they are usually the ones that are tucking their heads, the ones that don’t want to be there, that got talked into being there,” said one Def Con 1 Haunted Warehouse Employee. “I slam on everything and then I act animatronic so that way, whenever it gets to a certain point, I just look lifeless again, then I crawl out and I chase them down the hallway,” he said.
Like any haunted house, not one trip through will ever be the same, because when you’re dealing with live actors, the tricks never stop.
“Life goes forward, death lags behind. If he falls down, we are just going to leave him behind, okay?” screams an employee as guests file into the warehouse.
The scares continue at the Def Con 1 Warehouse and Circus of The Dead Murder Maze November first from seven p.m. to midnight.
