UPDATE: Andrews Shootout Suspect Used Alias 10/29/13

UPDATE 5:40 PM - The Texas Department of Public Safety has just released additional details on one of the suspect's from Friday's chase and subsequent shooting:
Through additional investigation, Texas Rangers have determined that Cameron Marson is an alias. He has now been positively identified as Cameron Anthony Dawson (03-18-1979) of New Mexico. Dawson and Baca were injured in an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement, and the injuries sustained by the second suspect are still under investigation.
Both suspects remain under guard at MCH in ICU. The original stolen vehicle, occupied by the suspects during the pursuit, was a black 2010 Chevrolet pickup and the vehicle that was later taken with civilian hostages was a green 2008 Ford pickup.
The Texas Department of Safety has released the following statement regarding the officer involved shooting that happened Friday evening:
At approximately 4:30 PM law enforcement officers were attempting to locate
a stolen vehicle with two suspects. Vehicle was located at the intersection
of Yukon and US 385 in Odessa, TX. Suspect vehicle shot at law enforcement
officers. Law enforcement officers did not return fire due to the safety of
civilians. Pursuit continued north on US 385 towards Andrews. Approximately
7 to 8 miles south of Andrews suspect vehicle stopped and fired once again
at law enforcement. At this time law enforcement officers returned fire. One
suspect was injured. The other suspect fled and jumped into another vehicle
that had two occupants who were taken hostage. The vehicle continued south
on US 385 towards Odessa, TX. Approximately 3 to 4 miles hostage vehicle
crossed the median and stopped in the north bound lane facing south.
Hostages fled for safety. Negotiations began with suspect. After a few
minutes suspect surrendered. Both suspects were taken to Odessa Medical
Center and are being treated. Unknown on their condition at this time. Texas
Rangers are leading the investigation.
One suspect had a federal warrant issued by U.S. Marshals out of the
district of New Mexico.
No law enforcement officers were injured.
