MIDLAND, TX-Erik Kator died in a tragic motorcycle accident Friday.
Many in the community remember Erik as the villain from the popular "Summer Mummers" production.
Family and friends of the 34-year-old Erik gathered at Midland Community Theater earlier today remembering a life that will never be forgotten.
Close friends and family describe him as a perfectionist who didn't know how much the community of Midland loved him.
Everyone that knew Erik say he was truly one-of-a-kind and loved to make people smiles, which is what he did at the Midland Community Theater.
"Erik brought everyone's energy up, he brought everyone’s desires up, and to lose a good soul like that is a loss. You may not see today and you may not see tomorrow, but you’ll definitely see in the weeks, in the months, in the years coming up," said Tim Jebsen, the Executive Director for Midland Community Theater.
Erik’s mother says the nurses knew right away that he was that one guy from Summer Mummers.
"People cared about him and I'm sorry that this had to happen in order for him to find out this way," said Jan Kator, Erik’s mother.
Family and friends aren't just dealing with feelings of sadness during this time, but also anger.
"There’s people that are in cars, that are dying around here everyday, everyday people are dying, because you’re not paying attention. Next time it could be you sitting here talking about how your loved ones gone,” said Chaston Rankin, Erik’s best friend.
Erik’s mother wants to remind everyone to do one thing,
"When you go home tonight love your family, and tell them that, and give them a big kiss."
"There's a huge whole in my heart that will never be filled," said David Kator, Erik’s father.
Mr. Kator says not only will his heart never be filled, but says the theater lost part of its heart too, that will take a long time, if ever, to be filled.
Funeral services for Erik will be held Saturday at 5:30pm at the Yucca Theater in Midland.
