Odessa - With the creation of a water fund left to the voters this election year, the John Ben Shepperd public leadership institute is hosting a roundtable discussion tomorrow night that might answer some of your questions.
Proposition 6 is a constitutional amendment that would take $2 billion out of the state’s rainy day fund and create a water development bank.
Supporters say prop 6 is needed to ensure Texas has enough water as the population booms over the next 50 years. Opponents have called it a hidden tax.
State Senator Kel Seliger, along with Texas Water Development Board member Bech Brunn and Deputy Director with the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality, L’oreal Stepney will be panelists in the discussion.
Hydrogeologist Darrell Peckham with Water Quest will be the moderator.
The event is tomorrow at 6:30 at the UTPB library.
