A Big Spring High School student lands behind bars after police discover an alleged hit list in a journal belonging to the student. Police say the journal described his intent to harm teachers and students in graphic detail. The student, 17-year-old Michael Peterson, was arrested Tuesday afternoon for a "terroristic threat on a public servant."
"It was probably a joke," said Taryn Espinoza, a sophomore at Big Spring High School.
Students CBS 7 talked to say they arenít too concerned as they donít think he would actually harm anyone.
"He was probably just joking around. I don't think he would do something like that," she said.
Another student CBS 7 talked to says she has a class with Peterson. She feels he was taking out his aggression through the journal.
"I don't really think he was going to do it. He was kind of getting it out of his system, I guess," said Michelle Duck, a high school student.
The school district says they take any threat seriously. They wouldn't specifically say what discipline action they have taken, but they are investigating the threat.
"We're going to do a thorough investigation. Now how long that takes, i don't know but we're going to do that best that we can," said interim superintendent Chris Wigington.
