PERMIAN BASIN-Complex Community Federal Credit Union took many by surprise today as they celebrated their 55th year of service by engaging in “55 Acts of Intentional Kindness.”
“People helping people” is the motto that the Complex Community Federal Credit Union goes by, and this is exactly what they showed the people of the Permian Basin today.
Employees from the Complex Community Federal Credit Union started their morning extra early today by surprising many with random acts of kindness.
Denise Rivas, with the Credit Union, says they're all about giving back to the community.
"We’re out in the community doing intentional acts of kindness. We’re singing at nursing homes, we're paying for donuts, we're paying for their Starbucks, we're paying for their gas," said Rivas.
130 employees from each of their 9 branches in Monahans, Big Spring, Midland, Odessa, and Andrews took part in at least one act of kindness.
One group of employees surprised ten lucky people at La Mision in Midland with free lunch.
"This is the first time this has ever happened to us," said one recipient.
One group of folks was actually celebrating their birthdays and was shocked by the generous gesture.
"These people came up behind us and I was wondering what was happening but it was a pleasant surprise," said another group of recipients.
Baskets filled with snacks for each Fire Station and Police Department were handed out, along with buckets of toys for our furry friends at various animal shelters.
"We’re out there doing good hopefully bringing joy into your life," said Rivas.
Denise says they intend to make this an annual tradition with the number of acts of kindness increasing with each year of service that it is celebrated.
