UPDATE: Rankin Coach Resigns, Investigation Continues 10/15/13

Rankin, TX - After a 20-minute executive session trustees with the Rankin Independent School District accepted 38-year-old Ryan Aguirre’s resignation. Aguirre submitted his resignation last week. This is in the middle of an investigation with the Upton County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say they can only confirm that the investigation deals with misconduct.
Superintendent Danny Davis says the district also conducted an internal investigation as well.
As of Wednesday Aguirre is no longer employed with Rankin ISD but the question still remains, why.
“It is my understanding that local law enforcement is still investigating the matter as well, so to ensure no interference with those investigations, we will not comment any further right now,” Davis said.
The former assistant coach and special education teacher was not present to speak for himself at the meeting.
“We are also reporting information to the state board for Educator Certification for further investigation by their office,” Davis said.
The Head Football Coach Kevin Ray who says the focus now is just to move forward in their season.
