ODESSA-A home invasion takes a horrible turn when the victim is tied up as his house is ransacked around him. Three homes and one car were broken into on the 4600 block of Orchid Lane in Odessa, according to Odessa Police Spokesperon Steve Lesueur.
The suspect even took off in the victim’s truck after tying him up.
Birds chirping on a quiet suburban street, but the 4600 block of Orchid is where a 36-year-old man came home, found a burglar and was tied to his chair with power cords while the burglar cleaned out his home.
"I wish I had seen what happened then maybe I could've helped him,” said Kristen, who lives two doors down from the victim.
Police say the lone suspect is a Hispanic male -- he stole electronics and even clothes from the home where the victim—Scott, was tied up sometime before 2:30 in the afternoon. Neighbors are on high alert. At least two other homes and one car were broken into around the same time.
"Whatever has happened, they're watching the neighborhood and they know who's home and who's not,” said Mary Kay Scott, who lives on the street.
Evidence signs mark off the alleyway behind other homes -- neighbors say someone kicked down a wooden gate, even jumped fences, gathering up items in backyards.
"I grew up on the West side of town, and I feel safer there than I do in town,” Kristen said.
No word on if any weapons were used nor how the suspect got in.
“Do you feel safe here?”
"Not so safe tonight,” Mary Kay Scott said. “Locking up and turning the alarm on."
Police are still searching for the suspect, last seen driving the victim's stolen 2011 white Chevrolet 3500 4-door pickup truck. It is a long bed.
