RANKIN-Rankin ISD Special Education teacher and coach Ryan Aguirre is on paid administrative leave while Upton County Sheriff’s officials investigate allegations of improper conduct.
There are many lingering questions, but neither the school district nor the Sheriff is ready to say why Aguirre is under scrutiny.
"The school district notified us, they said somebody had called them about some improper stuff going on and that’s when I told them not to say anything to anybody and let us do the work,” said Upton County Sheriff Dan Brown.
Rankin ISD superintendent Danny Davis released a statement saying Aguirre is on “paid administrative leave pending board action on his continued employment.” Davis added that authorities are investigating and “the district cannot comment further.”
"The school has taken the appropriate action notifying us and making contact,” Brown told CBS 7 news.
The sheriff says they are investigating more than one allegation--but no charges have been filed.
"We have not arrested anyone, it’s still under investigation,” Brown said.
CBS 7 spoke with a Rankin High Student about Mr. Aguirre.
"He's really strict and very hard on his daughter, I know she’s not allowed to date or anything like that,” said Rankin High Student Kendra.
A source close to the school district said the allegations are “very serious” and “bad news for Rankin ISD.”
The school board will consider accepting Aguirre’s voluntary resignation tomorrow.
The sheriff encourages anyone in the public with details regarding this investigation to contact his office at (432) 693-2422.
