1 Arrested In Sex Ring Worked In Prison Kitchen 10/15/13
HOUSTON - One of 13 people arrested last week as part of an alleged sex
trafficking ring has worked in a prison kitchen for more than 20 years.
Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Jason Clark told the Houston
Chronicle that 55-year-old Guadalupe Valdez Lugo worked as a food service
manager at the Estelle Unit near Huntsville. Clark said she had at least 249
months of service with the agency, though that was not continuous.
Lugo faces charges of sex trafficking conspiracy and money laundering.
The ring made at least $12.6 million during more than a decade. They
allegedly forced underage girls and women living in the U.S. illegally into
Clark said if Lugo makes bond she will not be able to return to work while
the charges are pending.
