Breezy Winds Today 10/10/13
Thursday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan Ė Chief Meteorologist
Another day of warm temperatures and breezy winds is expected across West Texas. Winds will be out of the south at 15-25mph. Skies will be partly cloudy, as the first in a series of upper level disturbances moves over the region. A few isolated thunderstorms arenít out of the question north of Interstate 20. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80ís for most. A few locations in the Trans Pecos and Presidio Valley will see highs in the 90ís.
Winds will shift of the west for a period of time on Friday. I think this will limit surface moisture and as such, will limit the potential for thunderstorms. However, this wind shift only appears to be temporary and moisture will return to the area by the weekend.
Iíve included a 20-50% chance of rain in the forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. This, as a disturbance moves over the region and interacts with moisture in both the mid and low levels of the atmosphere. Some of the rain could be heavy at times, especially on Sunday.
As the storm system passes by on Monday, moisture will be driven to the east in response to a cold front. Temperatures will be much cooler on Tuesday and Wednesday.
