Gas Drops Below Three Dollars In The Permian Basin 10/08/13
October 8, 2013
Midland/Odessa - Hundreds are talking about the low gas prices we are seeing here in the Permian Basin. Prices have been steadily decreasing for the past three months and have finally dipped below three dollars.
“I wish they would get even lower, I like the $2.99 gas prices,” said a Midland customer.
By the trend we are seeing now, it looks like prices could very well continue to drop. For three months the Midland\Odessa area has seen a fairly steady decline and the state of Texas now ranks number three for having the lowest gas in all of the U.S.
“It’s actually pretty hard to believe, you know with everything that’s been going on,” said an Odessa customer.
But for the past year while we have seen gas prices peek at almost four dollars a gallon, many now choose not to look at the sign and just get gas when they need it. “I don’t really pay attention anymore, I just expect to pay higher prices now, it’s just the norm.”
The U.S. averages around $3.38, but the prices here are well below that. Urging hundreds to take advantage whether they are filling up spare gas tanks or just topping it off.
Along with Midland and Odessa, Big Spring has also joined in and has dropped below three dollars.
