Oilers Rally to Stun Devils 10/8/13
- The New Jersey Devils have opened a West Coast trip with a painful loss at Edmonton.
The Oilers erased a 3-0 deficit in the third period before beating the Devils 5-4 in a shootout. David Perron (peh-ROHN') tied the game with 8:13 left in regulation, 1:43 before Taylor Hall gave the Oilers a brief lead.
The Devils picked up a standings point when Patrik Elias (EH'-lee-ahsh) tallied with 54 seconds left in the third period.
Perron and Jordan Eberle (EB'-ur-lee) scored shootout goals while Jason LaBarbera stopped Damien Brunner (BROO'-nur) and Ryan Clowe (kloh).
The Oilers picked up their first win in three games this season and dropped the Devils to 0-1-2 so far.
- The New York Rangers were 3-1 winners at Los Angeles to ruin the Kings' home opener. Brad Richards scored the game's first two goals on assists from Rick Nash. Ryan McDonagh also tallied and Henrik Lundqvist handled 28 shots as the Rangers bounced back from their season-opening loss at Phoenix.
