Wave of Bomb Blasts Rock Iraqi Capital, Killing 30 10/7/13
BAGHDAD - At least 30 people are dead in a wave of explosions that rattled the Iraqi capital after sunset. Earlier in the day, attacks on anti-al-Qaida fighters claimed another five lives.
The deadliest attack happened when a car bomb and a roadside bomb exploded in a market and a nearby parking lot in a northern Shiite district, killing six people and wounding 13 others.
There's been no claim of responsibility for the attacks. But al-Qaida says it was responsible for a series of rare suicide attacks last month in the northern Kurdish region, which is relatively peaceful and is self-ruled.
