Ex-West Texas Deputy Pleads Guilty in Drug Case 10/4/13
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - A former West Texas sheriff's deputy has pleaded
guilty to his involvement in a cocaine distribution conspiracy.
A Thursday statement from the U.S. attorney's office in Dallas says
43-year-old former Yoakum County deputy Inoe R. Valdez pleaded guilty in Lubbock
to unlawful use of a communication facility.
Court documents show Valdez used a cellphone from July 2009 until about
August 2010 to participate in the drug trafficking scheme.
He faces up to four years in prison and $250,000 in fines. No sentencing
date was set.
The release says Valdez acknowledged selling about 1.5 pounds of cocaine and
that he stopped when he learned he was under investigation.
