UPDATE: Police Standoff at Odessa Residence 10/3/13

UPDATE: 4:00 P.M.
The actor initially refused to come out but after a brief standoff, he eventually surrendered without incident. The actor was identified as John David Evans Jr., date of birth 01/30/1991. Evans was transported to the Criminal Investigation Division and interviewed by investigators.
Subsequent investigation determined that Evans actually lives at the residence in the 1500 block of Center and had assaulted his roommate, Joseph Sanchez.
An arrest warrant was obtained for assault causing bodily injury “Family Violence”, a class “A” misdemeanor. Evans was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
The victim, Joseph Sanchez, 22 years of age, was transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is in custody and police say he is going to be charged with burglary and intent to assault. Police had to go into the room to get the suspect and one other person. They did not come out willingly. Police say they don't know what the involvement is of the second person.
CBS 7 crews saw police bring out one woman and one man in handcuffs, but police say the are not under arrest. Suspect is still in the house with one other person. It is still unknown of the suspect has a weapon at this time. The scene is still active with SWAT vehicles and Odessa Police. They ask that you try to avoid this area if possible.
Odessa Police Department
ODESSA - Officers with the Odessa Police Department responded to a call of a disturbance in the 1500 block of Center. The victim, who resides at this address, reported to police that a black male forced entry into this home and assaulted him. Prior to Officers arrival, the suspect then ran into a back bedroom and locked the door. The suspect refused to leave and weapons are unknown at this point.
A perimeter has been set and the Crisis Negotiation Unit and the SWAT team are responding to the scene. This is protocol for incidences involving barricaded subjects who are suspected of being armed. Spectators and motorists are advised to stay away from the area. Additional information will be released as the incident unfolds.
