ODESSA-Imagine raw sewage coming up through your bathtub's drain--it was a reality for one family at Mead Manor Mobile Home Park at 40th and Golder. But the city says it’s up to the property owners to fix the problem.
For the third time, Kristina and her family found raw sewage exploding out of their drains and out onto the floor at their rental property.
"The toilet overflowed under the floor and the bathtub had poop floating in it, it was just gross,” the mother of two said.
City inspectors went to the site yesterday--they say the problem is the responsibility of the property owners and a health and sanitation violation has been issued for the complex.
"They are cited and notified and it ultimately falls on them to take care of their property,” said City Spokesperson Andrea Goodson.
And it's not the first complaint for Mead Manor.
"We’ve received at least half a dozen complaints since 2009,” said Goodson.
Little comfort for homeowners who now dread what comes out of their drain and onto their yards
"All we could do was call the plumber who said let it out into the yard, I said, ‘That's got to be a bio hazard,” Kristina said.
The property owner was unable to return calls for comment.
TCEQ says there could be state violations at play, but will likely defer to city code to monitor the issue.
