MIDLAND-The Commemorative Air Force and the City of Midland reached an agreement today regarding $50,000 hotel/motel tax funding for its annual air show.
The funding came under scrutiny after news of the possibility of the move of the CAF Headquarters out of Midland.
The final agreement to receive the funding includes a commitment to continue CAF operations at the Midland airport through January 2017 and requires the CAF to produce an annual airshow through 2016 and requires the CAF Airpower Museum to operate in Midland through January 2017.
The agreement does not include an original request by Council Member Scott Dufford to keep the headquarters here and a request for the CAF to be responsible for paying back state funds if the move affected that funding.
“We are making sure that the assets at the museum are maintained and the museum continues to improve over the years,” Dufford said.
