Midland City Officials and real estate developers broke ground on a new downtown project today.
The Wall Street Lofts are expected to be ready by December 2014. They will house retail, 120 "urban-style" residences, and ample parking.
Developers and city officials who gathered near the intersection of Wall and Main this afternoon hope it will address the housing shortage while also revitalizing the downtown area.
With all the young professionals moving to Midland, we think they'll look for the same kind of housing that young professionals in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin. So we think there's a demand," says Roger Gault, one three of the developers on the project.
The Wall Street Lofts will be the first apartment complex built in downtown Midland in over 50 years.
Developers tell us rates for units will be fair market value starting from the 1,100s.
