The City of Midland Engineering Services Department has the following projects under construction. Road closures and traffic alerts for each project are listed below: Lamesa Road Pedestrian Access Improvement
The Contractor working for the City of Midland is installing sidewalks along the east side of Lamesa Road between Wadley Avenue and Scharbauer Drive. Lane closures will be used along Lamesa Road between Maple Avenue and Pine Avenue. All properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible. FY 2013 Mill/Overlay Project: Golf Course Road
Weather permitting, the contractor working for the City of Midland will continue the Mill/Overlay Project at Golf Course Road between Tilden Street and Fairgrounds Road the week of September 30. During mill/overlay, lane closures will be used on Golf Course Road. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, and all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible. Residential and Collector streets adjacent to Golf Course Road will be closed for short periods of time. FY 2013 Mill/Overlay Project: Briarwood Avenue
Weather permitting, the contractor working for the City of Midland will continue the Mill/Overlay Project at Briarwood Avenue between Avalon Drive and State Highway 158 the week of September 30.
During Mill/Overlay, lane closures will be used on Briarwood Avenue between Avalon Drive and County Road 1250. Residential and collector streets adjacent to Briarwood Avenue will be closed for short periods of time, but all properties will remain accessible.
Traffic control at Briarwood Avenue between County Road 1250 and State Highway 158 will include a pilot car and flaggers. All motorists should be prepared to stop and expect delays. Briarwood Avenue will be closed to east bound motorists for short periods of time during Mill/Overlay. Alternate routes for east bound motorists include County Road 1250, State Highway 191, and Craddick Highway. If possible, motorists should avoid Briarwood Avenue during the project. Signal Outage: Illinois Avenue/ Midland Drive
A vehicle collided with the traffic signal control box at the Illinois Avenue and Midland Drive intersection Wednesday evening, causing a complete loss of function of the traffic signals. The street lights do not have power as a result of this incident. The Cityís Transportation Division has placed stop signs in all directions and is asking that the public take an alternative route when possible to avoid creating congestion. Midkiff Road Pavement Repair
The City of Midlandís Transportation Division will continue repairing damaged pavement at Midkiff Road near the Midkiff Road/Loop 250 intersection the week of September 30. During the project, lane closures will be used on Midkiff Road. Two-way traffic on Midkiff Road will be maintained at all times, and all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible.
Motorists are advised to avoid these work zones if possible.
