MIDLAND-After months of back and forth about funding for the Hispanic chamber, The Midland City Council unanimously voted to approve $60,000 this year from the general budget for the Hispanic chamber.
The council says the money is to be used mainly for the business incubator, but also for general business development.
The Hispanic Chamber has been under scrutiny for its financial reporting over the last two years.
“They ask things of us, we do it, I think the lack of communication is you meet with one committee and you only do it once a year,” said Midland Hispanic Chamber CEO and President Rachel Stone.
The chamber will have to report its finances monthly and will be drawing the money each month instead of in a lump sum.
A city representative will also be placed on the board that oversees its business incubator.
