Houston Leaders to Push Anti-Trafficking Campaign 9/24/13
HOUSTON - Houston Mayor Annise Parker and top Houston-area law
enforcement officials are pressing a new campaign against human trafficking.
The mayor is to join Police chief Charles McClelland, Harris County Sheriff
Adrian Garcia and Harris County First Assistant District Attorney Belinda Hill
at a City Hall kickoff Tuesday evening.
The "Shine a Light on Human Trafficking" campaign will include gatherings
around the city and county to advise the public how to help in the fight against
Houston is regarded as a hub for human trafficking because of its proximity
to the U.S.-Mexico border, large international port and the cross-country
Interstate 10 corridor.
