Playoff Push Continues 9/20/13
UNDATED - Coming up tonight, the battle over the two American League wild-card spots continues as Texas plays at Kansas City, Tampa is home to Baltimore and Cleveland is entertaining Houston. The Rays and Rangers continue to hold down the two spots with identical records of 83-69 while the Indians are a half-game back at 83-70. Baltimore is two back at 81-71 and the Royals three back at 80-72.
The Cardinals top the Pirates by a game in the National League Central race with Cincinnati a game back of Pittsburgh. Tonight the Cards are at Milwaukee while the Pirates are home to the Reds in the first game of a huge three-game series.
The Red Sox can clinch the American League East tonight as they play host to the Blue Jays. Last night the Sox wrapped up a playoff berth with a win over the Orioles.
And in Detroit Max Scherzer tries once again to get his 20th win of the season. The right-hander, who is 19-3 with a 2.95 earned run average, has crossed the 200-inning pitch plateau for the first time in his career and takes on the White Sox.
The Mets have a game against the Phillies tonight in Philadelphia. The game means nothing in the standings but it marks the return of Mets captain David Wright to the lineup after missing seven weeks with a strained right hamstring.
