PRESIDIO-Presidio County Officials warn that the area is under a National Weather Service flood warning.
According to information provided by County Judge Paul Hunt, the NWS predicts anywhere from 1-3" of rain in the area.
Officials are closely monitoring the Rio Grande River, especially in the area around the Presidio-Ojinaga International Bridge.
The river near the bridge is currently just 2.5 feet below flood stage at 13 feet.
"Although the gauge 5 miles southeast of Presidio is only running a little high right now, any heavy rain along the Rio Conchos and/or Rio Grande River could result in elevated flows, or
flooding, here and downstream," According to the press release.
CBS 7 Weather Specialist Darrell Ward said the river should be expected to just tap the flood stage and that rain should now be moving away from that area.
