BIG SPRING, TX-The Picture to the right is where 17-year-old Abigail Valencia was allegedly shot in the head by her boyfriend, Dakota Anguiano.
One of her friends, Casandra Martinez, says both Valencia and Anguiano, were helping her move into her new home.
Martinez says she didn't see any sight of fighting or violence between the two.
Martinez says she was shocked when she heard a gun shot go off and says Anguiano didn't seem like the type to hurt anyone, let alone shoot his own girlfriend.
"We didn't see no gun, we didn't see it at all, all we heard was a loud boom and everything just happened in a flash like everything just passed."
When asked what happened, Martinez says that Anguiano said “the gun went off,” and he rushed Valencia to the hospital.
Sergeant Tony Everett, with Big Spring Police, says it doesn’t look like Valencia is going to make it. But he says you never know, a miracle could happen.
BIG SPRING – Big Spring Police have arrested Dakota Anguiano, 19, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police arrested Anguiano in connection with the shooting of Abigail Valencia, 17, Thursday evening in Big Spring.
BSPD tells CBS 7 Anguiano drove Valencia to Scenic Mountain Medical Center around 6:50 pm on Thursday. Anguiano told police Valencia was walking near Circle and Sycamore when a black Escalade came around the corner and someone in the truck shot at Valencia.
Police went to area and found no evidence of a crime scene or witnesses to back up what Anguiano told them.
Upon future investigation, police discovered that Valencia was shot at a home in the 1300 block of Tucson. After the scene was processed, Anguiano was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The weapon was not at the scene. Anguiano led police to another home on Tucson where a .45 caliber handgun was recovered. David Westbrook, 19, was arrested at the second location and was charged with tampering with evidence.
Police tell CBS 7 they do not know the motive of the shooting at this point. However, they believe Valencia was shot in front of her 2-year-old daughter. Valencia was flown to University Medical Center in Lubbock and is listed in critical condition.
