Houston-Area Deputy Fatally Shoots Suspect 9/20/13
HOUSTON - Authorities say a reserve sheriff's deputy shot and killed a
man outside a Houston-area pawn shop after the suspect opened fire on the
The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the reserve deputy, identified as
Lt. J. Rollins, wasn't hurt in Wednesday night's gunfire. Killed in the exchange
was 20-year-old Misraim Nathaniel Cisneros.
Workers at a pawn shop who feared a possible robbery summoned officers after
a customer asked to see some expensive jewelry but had no required
Rollins arrived and asked Cisneros for his ID. Authorities say Cisneros
retrieved a gun from his vehicle and opened fire. Rollins then shot him twice.
The sheriff's office will investigate.
Reserve deputies are volunteers who receive law enforcement training and
have the same legal authority as paid officers.
