Health Officials Urge Pregnant Women To Get Whooping Cough Vaccine 9/19/13

As confirmed cases of the whooping cough continue to grow around the state and West Texas, hospital officials are urging pregnant women to get vaccinated.
Medical Center Hospital officials tell CBS 7 the hope is the women would spread the antibodies in the vaccine to the unborn child, making them immune to whooping cough. The contagious infection can be fatal for young kids and babies canít be vaccinated until they are two-months-old.
