Head of Ed to Address State Board of Education 9/18/13
AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Education Commissioner Michael Williams is to
address the State Board of Education.
His comments Wednesday kick-off the second day of the board's meeting this
week. The board held an hours-long, politically charged hearing Tuesday on the
adoption of new biology textbooks for classrooms statewide.
The board won't vote to approve new books until November, but dozens of
teachers, experts, activists and ordinary Texans testified both for and against
proposed books submitted by publishers.

for students to consider that what they call "intelligent design" made the
