ALPINE-Former Alpine Finance Director Ricky Chavez was indicted by a grand jury Thursday in Alpine, according to the District Clerk's office in Alpine.
Chavez faced the grand jury accused of theft by a public servant and tampering with evidence, both felony charges.
The specifics on what charges he was indicted on will remain sealed until a judge releases that information.
Last week, District Attorney Rod Ponton released an update on the Texas Rangers' investigation into former Alpine Finance Director Ricky Chavez.
The release said they received full cooperation from the city in their investigation.
Chavez is accused of theft by a public servant and tampering with evidence.
"The only credible evidence of criminal wrongdoing has been against a former finance director of the City of Alpine," The release said.
