MISD Adds New Group of "Special Program Counselors" This School Year 9/15/13

MIDLAND, TX-Midland ISD dropout rate continues to decline. The district’s drop out rate is currently at a 9.9% for the 2012-year.
The district added a group of “Special Program Counselors” to help better focus on students and their needs.
The new set of counselor’s focuses on Special Needs students, and English Language Learning Students.
Deborah Acosta, MISD's Dropout and At-Risk Coordinator, says now with more counselors, they'll be able to offer additional help to students.
Acosta says she expects the dropout rate to continue to decrease with the addition of the new student services provided by the counselors.
