Early Morning Crash Kills One 9/15/13

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Noah Alexander Flemister.
Midland - Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident at approximately 3:56 a.m. Sunday near the Stripes convenience store located in the 2400 block of South Rankin Highway.
A Chevy pickup was exiting the convenience store parking lot to proceed south on Rankin Highway when it was struck from behind by a Cadillac Escalade that was traveling southbound.
Both vehicles were forced off the roadway, causing the Escalade to roll over. The driver of the Escalade was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
His name has not yet been released, and he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The Chevy pickup fled the scene of the accident and was abandoned by the driver, 17-year-old Fernando Alvarado, in the 2100 block of Belmont Street.
From there, Alvarado fled on foot and was located by police in the 900 block of South Weatherford Street. Alvarado was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid.
The contributing factors leading to the collision are still under investigation.
