We sat down with Permian High School principal James Ramage on the new cell phone policy that started just a few days ago at Permian and Odessa High.
Ramage said they previously did not allow cell phones at all on campus. This new policy allows students to text in between classes and at lunch. He said he talked with administration at Odessa High School and came up with the new policy.
He said four days into the new policy they havenít had any problems so far. He said kids seem to be enjoying the new policy. Ramage said it also allows students to use instructional apps and tablets. Teachers say this policy is a positive move because many teachers were spending more time telling students to put away their devices rather than teaching.
Ramage said some students may take advantage of the policy and the consequences will include the phone being taken up and a fifteen-dollar fine.
