Isolated Showers And Storms Remain 9/11/13
Wednesday Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist
A few showers and thunderstorms are still possible across West Texas today as a storm system continues to slowly depart the area. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80’s under cloudy skies. The chance of rain will be 20-30% across the Permian Basin. 40-50% rain chances will be in place further west.
Dry conditions are expected Thursday through the weekend. Highs will be in the upper 80’s to lower 90’s. Skies will be partly cloudy through the weekend.
Changes will be in the offing for much of next week. Temperatures will be on a downward trend early to mid-week. A tropical system moving northwest from the Gulf of Mexico will shoot a large plume of moisture into the region. At the same time, a large upper level trough of low pressure will be driving southeast out of the Pacific Northwest. It appears that the Pacific Northwest storm will pass to our north, shooting a cold front south into the area. The front looks to stall in our region and moisture from the tropical system will overrun it. This will provide a focus for scattered showers and thunderstorms next week.
