Nadal Wins 9/10/13
NEW YORK - Rafael Nadal (nah-DAHL') is looking as good as ever, just 2.5 months after losing his opening-round match at Wimbledon.
Nadal has captured his 13th Grand Slam title by downing top-ranked Novak Djokovic (JOH'-koh-vihch) in the U.S. Open final. Facing Djokovic for the third time in the last four Open finals, the second-seeded Nadal needed three hours and 21 minutes to post a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory. It's the second U.S. Open crown for Nadal, and his first since defeating Djokovic in 2010.
Djokovic was up 2-1 in the third set until he was broken on serve, beginning a match-ending run in which Nadal won 11 of the final 14 games.
Nadal is now 22-15 all-time against Djokovic, who was seeking his seventh major championship. Nadal also improved to 22-0 on hard court this year.
