Rain Chances Continue Today 9/10/13
Tuesday Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist
A chance of rain will continue in today’s forecast. Cloudy skies will yield cooler temperatures. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80’s across West Texas. Rain chances will be best in far West Texas, near El Paso. However, at least a 30% chance of rain seems warranted today given the amount of moisture and disturbances moving overhead.
I will keep a 20% chance of rain in the forecast for Wednesday to cover any storms that might linger as the upper level disturbance departs the area.
High Pressure will build back into the region Thursday through Saturday. This will promote highs in the upper 80’s to lower 90’s. Skies will be partly cloudy and the chance of rain will be 5% or less.
The upper level high pressure ridge will start to break down on Sunday. As a result, cooler temperatures will return. However, rain chances will probably hold off until next week.
A series of disturbances will impact the area next week. Some of the moisture profiles appear to be tropical in nature. As such, the threat of heavy rain could be in the offing around the Tuesday and Wednesday time frame.
