UPDATE: MPD Confirms HWY 80 Wreck is a Fatal 9/10/13
A Midland man was declared deceased after a fatal motorcycle accident at approximately 7:35 a.m. Tuesday in the 5800 block of West Highway 80.
The driver of a blue Dodge Magnum was headed westbound on the Highway 80 north service road when she made a left turn to reach a stop sign on the service road before heading south for a left turn onto eastbound Highway 80. As the driver, 26-year-old Ishaenay Jennings of Midland, pulled southbound into westbound traffic on Highway 80, her vehicle collided with a westbound Yamaha V Star operated by Malcolm McPherson, 45, of Midland.
McPherson was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin have been notified. McPherson was shown to be wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
No injuries were reported for Jennings and another passenger in the vehicle. Jennings will be cited for failure to yield, and the investigation is ongoing. Midland Police Department worked this accident, but the location was outside of city limits.
A motorcycle crash on BI 20 at LP 250 in west Midland is diverting westbound traffic to the service road.
MPD tells CBS 7 the wreck on HWY 80 in Midland is a fatal. Police say a woman driving a Dodge Magnum, failed to yield the right-of-way and struck a Yamaha motorcycle. The person on the motorcycle died as a result of the wreck. The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet.
