Wild Card Battles Continue 9/9/13
UNDATED - There are several games tonight with wild-card implications. One has the New York Yankees at Baltimore. While the Orioles sit two games out in the American League wild-card standings, the Yankees are 2.5 games out. Cleveland is also two games back. The Indians host a Kansas City team that is 3.5 games out in the wild-card standings.
Texas and Tampa Bay begin the night tied at the top of the AL wild-card standings. While the Rays take the evening off, the Rangers host a Pittsburgh team eyeing a postseason berth. The Pirates, who are tied with Cincinnati for second place in the National League's Central Division, try to bounce back from 3 straight losses in St. Louis. The Cardinals, with a 1.5 game lead in the NL Central over the Bucs, have the night off. The hot Reds look to add to their four-game winning streak when they host the Chicago Cubs.
Another game to watch has AL Central-leading Detroit at the Chicago White Sox. That's where Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer (SHUR'-zur) goes for his 20th win. He's got a 19-2 mark.
Tonight's other contests have the L.A. Angels at Minnesota, Atlanta at Miami, the New York Mets host Washington, Houston is on the road at Seattle, Arizona visits the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado plays at San Francisco.
