Steelers Lose Two 9/9/13
UNDATED - The opening week of the season has been a disaster for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They lost the opener to Tennessee Sunday. And the loss cost them two key players for the season.
All Pro center Maurkice (mar-KEES') Pouncey tore ligaments in his knee and will need season ending surgery. Linebacker Larry Foote is also done for the season after rupturing his right biceps.
In other injury related news around the NFL;
- Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert will sit out the week after cutting the back of his throwing hand on a defender's face mask in Sunday's loss to Kansas City. Gabbert needed 15 stitches to close the wound and won't practice this week. Chad Henne will start for the Jaguars against Oakland Sunday.
- Dallas quarterback Tony Romo should be able to keep playing through a rib injury sustained in the win against the Giants Sunday night. X-rays showed no structural damage.
-Carolina has lost starting right guard Garry Williams for the season after he suffered torn ligaments in his left knee in the loss to Seattle Sunday.
- Buffalo cornerback Ron Brooks and rookie receiver Marquise Goodwin are out indefinitely after they were hurt in a season-opening loss to New England. Brooks will have surgery to repair a broken bone in his right foot while Goodwin is having surgery to repair a broken bone in his right hand.
