Women's Semifinals 9/6/13
NEW YORK - The women's semifinals are taking place this afternoon at the U.S. Open. In the first match second-seed Victoria Azarenka (ah-zah-REN'-kuh) beat unseeded Flavia Pennetta (FLAH'-vee-uh pehn-EHT'-uh) 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the final. The second semifinal has top-seed Serena Williams going against No. 5 Li Na (lee nah).
Azarenka is no stranger to the final as she lost to Williams in the Open final last year.
Williams of course is the hottest player in women's tennis with 16 Grand Slam titles while Li was the winner of the 2011 French Open.
Williams also has a women's doubles semifinal with her sister Venus as they take on a duo from the Czech Republic.
