Last week an Odessa business celebrated an exciting new venture in Colorado Springs, Colorado that offers plenty of opportunity for west Texans too! CBS 7ís Tatum Hubbard and Jay Hendricks had the chance to see the new Hotel Elegante as the stationís parent company, Investment Corporation of America, unveiled the newly renovated facility.
Hundreds of people attended an official ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. The Hotel Elegante is the 7th property in the ICA hospitality division. With 500-rooms and 47, 000 square feet of meeting space, the hotel is the second largest property in the city.
According to John Bushman, owner f ICA, "We can accommodate anywhere from 6 to 2,000 people. We can host graduations, anniversaries, weddings. We can do it all all. And we have the best beds on the planet so we'll put the guests up for the night pretty well too."
Ed Okvath has worked at the hotel for many years and is currently the General Manager for the property. He says, "I'm excited that this hotel finally has an owner that's invested in it. I fell in love with it. I had a vision that someone would buy the hotel, take good care of it, provide good service, clean rooms, and a good nightís sleep."
The Hotel Elegante is filled with unique features perfect for families or corporate events. Friends can gather at the newly remodeled Rawhide Sports Bar or enjoy the Sweet Tooth where they serve Starbucks coffee and Bluebell ice cream. And no matter what time of year, guests can relax at the beautiful indoor/outdoor pool.
But like all the other MCM hotel properties...it's the bed that leaves people talking.
Okvath adds, "We want them to know, their satisfaction is our success."
The Colorado Springs area offers a wide variety of entertainment options.
"Colorado Springs is a great place to be. You could literally spend days here going to Manatee Springs, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, hiking Red Rock, visiting the Air Force Academy, Royal Gorge, Seven Falls. We have shooting ranges. You can ride horses or ATVs. The list is endless," says Okvath
Bushman agrees, "It brings mountains, thinner air, cooler weather, the Olympic Training Center.Ē
So while west Texas is always home for ICA, the parent company of CBS 7...Colorado Springs might just be a retreat the whole family can enjoy.
Bushman says, "Some people can't afford the "Broadmoor" experience. That's the niche we're going to try to fill. We're going to try to deliver 90% of the value of the Broadmoor for 40-50% of the price. We can provide cleanliness, friendliness and the best bed on the planet."
