MIDLAND-The Midland City Council approved a number of improvements to the Midland International Airport. The most noticeable will be the re-pavement of the road that leads to the airport from Highway 349.
The project is made possible by a $3.4 million dollar federal aviation grant, which will include major upgrades to the emergency access portions of the runways.
"You'll see new pavement coming into the airport, we'll take care of potholes and dips we have coming into the new airport of course,” said Director of Midland Airports Mark Esterly.
Esterly says the city will kick in around $1 million dollars for the projects, which will also include the creation of additional hangar space for private aircraft.
This was all approved at today’s Midland City Council Meeting.
