Big Spring Residents Left Without Water After Repairs To Treatment Plant 8/21/13
August 21st, 2013
Workers were putting the final touches on the valves earlier this afternoon. They replaced several valves at the treatment plant and had to shut down it down.
"It's frustrating," said Jennifer Hines, a resident without water.
Many homes woke up to zero or very little water pressure this morning. The city didn't notify residents that they could be without water. One resident we spoke to had to actually buy water just to flush her toilets.
"It's very frustrating because you can't brush your teeth, take our shower. You can't use the restroom without filling up the toilets," Hines said.
City officials say they are working as fast as they can to get the system back on.
"We apologize for any inconvenience, but we are ahead of schedule," said Johnny Womack, the director of public works.
For now they say water restrictions will remain in place until tomorrow, when they expect the system to be back up to capacity.
