Thunderstorms Possible Again Today 8/16/13
Friday Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist
One last chance of thunderstorms will be in the offing for today. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 90’s for most. A few locations in the Presidio Valley and the Trans Pecos will be a little closer to 100. Winds will remain out of the south and east. This will promote a healthy amount of moisture in the lowest levels of the atmosphere. Morning thunderstorms have produced outflow boundaries that will interact favorably with afternoon heating to produce isolated thunderstorms today. Another cluster of thunderstorms will likely develop over the Texas Panhandle later tonight and impact the eastern Permian Basin through sunrise on Saturday.
High Pressure will build into the region over the weekend. Temperatures will continue to top out in the mid 90’s each afternoon and overnight lows will bottom out around 70. However, rain chances will come to an end in the next 24 hours for most.
