Residents React To Big Spring Shooting 8/15/13
August 15th, 2013
“Violence is terrible,” said Debra Carlisle, a Big Spring resident.
Last night a neighborhood was the scene of a violent crime. Something residents haven’t seen the like of before.
“It makes me very nervous. I live a little further away on 14th street but we come here all the time,” she said.
All three involved in the dispute ended up with severe injuries. Delia Cantu was shot in the face and her son, Saul Cantu, suffered a gunshot to the chest. Frank Galan, the husband of Delia Cantu suffered injuries to the head.
“We have one male, one female shot. An additional male has a head injury, that appears to be from a baseball bat,” said Police Chief Chad Williams.
At this point, both Delia Cantu and Saul Cantu are at Medical Center Hospital. Delia is in serious condition and Saul is in fair condition. Big Spring police said Galan was in critical condition last night.
Some residents say they aren’t too concerned about the incident because it was a domestic dispute versus random violence.
“It doesn’t bother me too much,” said Patrick Murphy.
