CBS 7 News
The gas outage for hundreds in West Odessa was caused by an accident in the area of 26th and Tripp where a car ran over a gas meter. A sheriff's deputy turned off the gas in the area as precaution. The gas delivery has now been restored to the area which stretched from 16th St. to 50th St.
Atmos Energy crews spent the day trying to restore gas services to 375 customers in West Odessa.
Atmos officials were first notified about the problem around 10:30 Tuesday morning. Atmos officials say someone broke the lock to a substation at 26TH and Tripp and turned off the gas.
Atmos Energy has filed a reported with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office to find out who did it.
85% of the repairs are complete. Crews are expected to resume work Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM.
