Five new coaches will be joining Midland and Odessa schools this fall but, they're not coming for football.
These "coaches”, all recent Texas Christian University graduates, will advise high school students on college and career opportunities.
They will work with students on everything from filling out financial aids forms, to writing essays, and the program will also help students pay for application fees.
"There is life after high school," says MISD Superintendent Dr. Ryder Warren,
"With the growth that we're sustaining, that puts more strain on my current counselors."
Advise TX is paid for by grants and fundraising, not tax dollars, will provide the schools and students with a counselor dedicated solely to life beyond high school.
