Man Arrested, Charged After High Speed Chase in Gaines County 7/9/13

The Gaines County Sheriff's Office issued this press release regarding this morning's vehicle chase:
On Tuesday, July 9th, 2013, at 7:40 A.M., The Gaines County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Hobbs Police Department who advised that Hobbs PD units were in pursuit of a red four-door car heading eastbound on U.S. Highway 62/180 at a high rate of speed. Gaines County Deputies and Seminole police officers were dispatched to assist.
The vehicle came to a stop on County Road 339 about a mile and a half sout of Highway 62/180. The driver, Hector Madrid, was taken into custody. Madrid was charged by New Mexico law enforcement officials with kidnapping, aggravated fleeing, battery against a household member and driving while license suspended/revoked. Madrid was charged by Gaines County Sheriff's Office with prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
Gaines Co. – Law enforcement from both New Mexico and Texas are in pursuit of a vehicle in Gaines Co. at this time.
The chase began in Hobbs, NM and has now carried over into Gaines County in Texas.
Gaines Co. Sheriff’s Office tells CBS 7 that the chase is in the area of CR 341 at this time.
Witnesses in the area report seeing numerous law enforcement vehicles from both New Mexico and Texas.
